“What would you say if I told you that these little babies are baked and not fried which is about ten times healthier for you? These doughnuts are moist, chocolately, and DELICIOUS!” ~Sarah
•1 cup honey
•1 cup safflower oil or butter, softened
•3/4 teaspoon salt
•1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla (or orange) extract
•3/4 teaspoon baking soda
•3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
•2 1/2- 3 cups whole wheat flour
1: In a large bowl beat honey, oil, eggs, salt, and vanilla until thoroughly combined.
2: Add baking soda and cocoa powder, stirring to combine.
3: Add enough flour to form a very thick, spreadable batter
4: Fill doughnut-hole pan about two-thirds full, and bake at 375 F 15-20 min or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
5: Serve hot with a steaming cup of coffee.
Yield: About 20 donuts
Store in airtight-container up to 2 days.
Note: These doughnuts can be frosted but they tasted just as good plain.
