Hey there! Let me be the first to welcome you to my blog, Whole and Heavenly Oven. My name is Sarah, and I’m so glad you’ve stopped by my little corner of the kitchen!
First things first. You wanna know the details about me? Let me lay out a few random facts in no particular order for you.
Here we go…
- I’m 25 years old.
- I’m a culinary school graduate and recent business school graduate.
- I’m the 4th-born child out of my 9 brothers and sisters.
- Yes, I cook for all those hungry people in addition to my hungry fiancé.
- I currently reside in southern Wisconsin where it’s usually too cold for my liking.
- I’ve been cooking since I was 8 years old and even went to culinary school but I’m still learning new things in the kitchen daily!
- I’m addicted to chocolate in anything and everything.
- Coffee makes up a huge part of my life.
- I love healthy food. But I also don’t like depriving myself or calling any food off limits. Around here, we are ALL about the balance between healthy food and cheat day food.
We eat tons of veggies and better-for-ya stuff around here, but you KNOW we’re digging into that cookie later too!
Most of my recipes use easy-to-find ingredients and you’ll find that a lot of them are quick and no-fuss. I live a very busy lifestyle, so I don’t always have hours and hours to slave over the stove and I’m betting you don’t either!
For this reason, nearly all of my recipes are easy and quick to prepare, but ALL of them taste like you spent all day cooking.
When I’m not cooking, I can usually be found in a gym, a dance studio, or really anything that lets me be active. I’m a huge believer in living a healthy lifestyle both by food and by staying active on a daily basis. Good for the mind, good for the body, and trust me, my mental sanity needs it after a day in the kitchen making, but mostly eating cookies.
I named this blog Whole and Heavenly Oven, because we’re combining whole foods with heavenly foods into a perfect balance. And, well, I kind of love my oven and for most of my recipes, you’re definitely going to need one!
All of the recipes on my blog are tested and re-tested to make sure that they’re foolproof. I will never post a recipe unless I’m positive it will work. Everyone deserves to nail a recipe on the first try!
All the photography on this blog is taken by myself. I currently shoot with a D3100 Nikon camera with an 18-55 mm lenses and I use a 50″ Ravelli tripod. – I’m certainly no expert when it comes to food photography and I’m still learning myself!
Update: In November 2014 I updated to a 1.8g 50mm lenses and this is the primary lens I use for nearly all of my photos now.
Update: In January 2016 I updated to a 2.8g 100mm lenses and I now use this lenses interchangeably with the 50mm.
