Preheat oven to 350F. In a medium bowl, toss apples, cranberries, lemon juice, and sugar together. Spread into the bottom of a 9-in cast iron skillet or 9x13 baking pan. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, toss crushed saltine crackers with melted butter with a fork until crumbly. Add spices and vanilla. Sprinkle topping evenly over apple cranberry filling. Bake brown betty at 350F 30-35 minutes or until topping is golden filling is bubbly.
