A sweet apple cranberry filling is a match made in heaven with a buttery spiced cracker topping and piles of chai whipped cream on top in this classic apple brown betty!

Ingredients

Apple Cranberry Brown Betty

  • 3 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples (about 4 apples)
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1 cup crushed saltine crackers
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chai Whipped Cream

  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon *chai spice

Instructions

Apple Cranberry Brown Betty

  1. Preheat oven to 350F. In a medium bowl, toss apples, cranberries, lemon juice, and sugar together. Spread into the bottom of a 9-in cast iron skillet or 9x13 baking pan. Set aside.

  2. In a medium bowl, toss crushed saltine crackers with melted butter with a fork until crumbly. Add spices and vanilla. Sprinkle topping evenly over apple cranberry filling. Bake brown betty at 350F 30-35 minutes or until topping is golden filling is bubbly.

Chai Whipped Cream

  1. Place cream in a medium bowl and beat on high speed with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Add powdered sugar and chai spice and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Serve apple cranberry brown betty warm with chai whipped cream and enjoy!
