  • 5 lbs apples peeled, cored, and sliced (10-12 medium apples)
  • 1-1/2 cups apple cider
  • 1/3 cup coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring often until apples are very tender and beginning to break down, about 15 minutes.
  • Transfer apples and any liquid still in the pan into a high-speed blender. Puree on high speed several seconds or until applesauce is completely smooth. Enjoy applesauce warm or refrigerate until cold.

Store applesauce in refrigerator up to 1 week. Applesauce also freezes well up to 3 months.
