Carne Asada Steak
In a medium bowl, whisk jalapeno, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, soy sauce, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and salt and pepper to taste until smooth. Submerge steak in marinade, turning several times until coated. Press a bowl or plate down on steak to ensure it stays submerged in marinade and let marinade in fridge 30 minutes, then remove from fridge to let come to room temperature for an additional 30 minutes.
Remove steak from marinade and pat dry. In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, heat remaining 1 tablespoon oil and butter until pan is very hot. Sear steak on both sides, 2-3 minutes on each side until steak reaches your desired doneness. Remove from pan to a cutting board, cover with foil and let rest 10 minutes.
Divide mixed greens, pepper, avocado, and cherry tomatoes between several serving bowls. Once steak has rested, thinly slice against the grain and arrange on top of bowls.
