Melt sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in butter and bring to a boil. Slowly add cream and salt, whisking constantly until caramel is a deep golden brown.
Pour caramel in the bottom of a greased 9-inch cake pan. Arrange sliced apples in a fan over top.
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt in a medium bowl.
Cream butter and sugars until creamy. Mix in yogurt, eggs, vanilla, flour mixture, and milk until batter is just combined.
Spread batter evenly over apples. Bake cake at 350F 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in cake portion comes out clean.
Allow cake to cool 20 minutes then run a knife along edges and invert onto a serving plate. Cool completely before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
