Ingredients

  • 2 medium avocados, pitted and diced
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon minced cilantro
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lb chuck ground beef
  • 2 medium cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 strips bacon
  • 4 medium lettuce leaves
  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted
  • 4 slices fresh mozzarella cheese
  • Sliced red onion

Instructions

  • Place avocado, lime juice, and cilantro in a small bowl and mash well with a fork until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, garlic, salt, and pepper. Form meat into 4 uniform patties.
  • Place bacon in a large skillet and set over medium heat. Cook bacon until crispy, turning occasionally. Drain bacon on paper towels.
  • Preheat a grill to 400F or if cooking indoors, heat pan with bacon drippings over medium-high heat. Grill or pan sear burgers flipping once until burgers reach your desired degree of doneness (see blog post for more info on this)
  • Assemble burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on each bun and spreading mashed avocado on top. Top with burger patty, a slice of mozzarella, a strip of bacon, and red onion. Serve burgers warm and enjoy!

Notes
