Salted Maple Smashed Sweet Potatoes

Smashed flat, broiled until crispy, and drizzled with a sweet and salty maple sauce, these maple smashed sweet potatoes are the easiest side dish!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky or kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh rosemary
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted (optional)
  • Additional salt for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425F. Lightly grease a large sheet pan and arrange sweet potato slices in a single layer.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring butter, maple syrup, salt, and rosemary to a low simmer, stirring until sauce is smooth.
  • Remove maple sauce from heat and spoon half of it over sweet potato slices. Bake sweet potatoes at 425F 15-20 minutes until tender. Remove from oven and switch oven to broiler.
  • Smash sweet potatoes flat with the bottom of a drinking glass and broil 3-5 minutes until crispy. Remove from oven and immediately drizzle with remaining maple sauce (gently reheat it on the stove if it has solidified) Garnish sweet potatoes with chopped pecans and additional salt and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Storing Instructions
Sweet potatoes are best if served immediately after cooking.
