These spicy chicken wontons feature a juicy chicken filling and are tossed in an incredibly flavorful spicy chili lime sauce. Serve them as an appetizer or a main entree!

Ingredients

Chili Lime Sauce

Spicy Chicken Wontons

  • 1/2 lb ground chicken
  • 1/4 cup finely minced green onions
  • 1/4 cup grated carrot
  • 2 medium garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 25 square wonton wrappers
  • Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for topping

Instructions

Chili Lime Sauce

  • Heat oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and chili flakes and cook 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add honey and chicken broth to pan and bring to a simmer. Allow to simmer 2-3 minutes until slightly reduced.
  • Remove sauce from heat and stir in lime juice and zest. Season sauce with salt and pepper to taste and set aside.

Spicy Chicken Wontons

  • In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, green onions, carrot, garlic, rice vinegar, oyster sauce, ginger, chili flakes, and salt until combined.
  • Fill a small bowl with water. Place wonton wrappers on a work surface and place a rounded teaspoon of meat filling in the center of each wrapper. Use your fingers to rub the edges of each wrapper with water, then fold in half to create a triangle. Fold the point of the triangle in, then take the edges of the triangle and fold them in around the tip, pinching to seal (refer to step-by-step pictures in blog post).
  • Bring a medium pot of lightly-salted water to a boil. Working in batches, add chicken wontons and cook 3-4 minutes until wontons are floating on top and chicken filling registers 165F. Repeat cooking with remaining wontons.
  • Place warm chicken wontons in a large serving bowl and drizzle with chili lime sauce. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds and serve warm. Enjoy!
