This addicting avocado salsa combines all the flavors of guacamole and tomato salsa in one amazing appetizer. You won’t believe how quickly it whips up! Feel free to add more heat to this salsa if you like ’em spicy!
Surely you guys know my obsession with fresh avocados? If you’ve seen this and this, you would know that I’m crazy about ’em. And I crave them 24/7.
This salsa is one of my current FAVORITE way to eat avocados. It’s so addicting too! Once you dip that first chip into this salsa, many are definitely going to follow.
I’ve been making this salsa for probably about 2 years now, and it finally occurred to me a few days ago that you guys would probably love it as much as me and my family does.
I’m sorry I kept this recipe to myself for so long. It is so worth the wait though. 😀
I couldn’t even tell you all the things I’ve used this salsa for besides obviously enjoying it with chips. — I’ve topped grilled chicken with it, (seriously yum!) I’ve thrown it into salads, put it in my lunch wraps, on my sandwiches….The possibilities are endless!
My family especially loves this salsa in the summer when avocados are in season. — I literally probably make it on a weekly basis during the summertime. — But it’s so simple and nostalgic to prepare, you can easily enjoy it year-round.
You won’t believe how quickly this salsa comes together. Literally all you have to do is throw chopped tomatoes, avocados, jalapeno pepper, onion, garlic powder, lemon juice, and salt and pepper to taste.
What’s the lemon juice for? It adds a nice little POP of flavor and tangy-ness to this salsa, but it also acts as an helpful acid, keeping the avocados fresh and tasty, and preventing them from turning brown. — I use either lemon juice or lime juice in all my guacamoles and salsas. It works wonders!
This salsa isn’t extremely spicy. — I would definitely say it’s a low-mild. (perfect for kids!) But if you’re in the mood for something spicy and feeling a little brave, feel free to throw in an extra-chopped jalapeno.
Okay, so my family has like this love/hate relationship with jalapenos. We love them in salsas and salads and such, but sometimes we tend to go crazy-ish with them..
Like during the summertime when we grow our own jalapenos, my brothers always have so-called contests to see who can stand eating the most fresh jalapenos. It’s quite amusing watching those big, tough guys squealing like little girls while they hop around fanning their mouths.
My personal opinion of all this is simply that they’re not playing with a full deck of cards…Weirdos.
THEN last summer I got my first-ever jalapeno burn. Have you ever gotten one of those? THEY’RE THE WORST!! All I was doing was chopping up ONE jalapeno for a salad and I guess I didn’t realize that the seeds are the spiciest part of an jalapeno, cause I um, kind of had them all over my hands….
Soooo, I had to walk around for the rest of the day with painful burning, stinging hands thanks to that darned jalapeno. Not the smartest thing I’ve ever done….
Moral of this story: Jalapenos can be delicious, but they can also be dangerous.
JOKING.
Friendly tip: Don’t be an idiot like me and always wear gloves when cutting jalapeno peppers.
Because this salsa comes together in minutes, it’s perfect for a last-minute appetizer that you forgot you were supposed to bring to that potluck. Oh, wait that’s just me? 😉
It’s amazing with tortilla chips, but even good by the spoonful. (please tell me I’m not the only one who does this!)
Aaaand once you start eating this salsa you’re never gonna want to stop.
I totally understand if you want to faceplant right into this bowl. I may or may not have ended up doing just that myself…
Don’t judge. I told you this stuff is good.

This looks amazing! Love how chunky it is. Avocado might be one of the best foods ever! It just makes everything better.
We’re housesitting for a few weeks, and there is a huge bag of perfectly ripe avocados that I’ve slowly been eating my way thru. Will definitely be making this chunky avocado salsa. Love your idea of putting it on a sandwich.
