This creamy breakfast smoothie is packed with everything you need to start the day off right! It tastes like a cafè mocha in healthy smoothie form.
This post is weird, guys. The temperatures this past week during the day have been in the single digits. So dang cold, I’ve done my best not to even leave the house for fear my face will be frozen off. And yet here sits a freezing-cold smoothie recipe on my blog.
The trials of it being both smoothie season and good-grief-it’s-freaking-freezing-so-gimme-all-the-HOT-food season. The smoothie struggle, we shall call it.
Like seriously, I’m shivering right now just thinking about sipping a smoothie, but at the same time wondering, hey if I just bury myself under piles of fuzzy blankets maybe I won’t freeze to death while drinking it!
Because c’mon. Cafè mocha. In smoothie form. All my caffeine/breakfast needs. In smoothie form.
Saying no to any of this is just not an option if your DNA contains even half the amount of coffee as mine does. (Thanks, Mom and Grandma—it’s a blessing not a curse) 😉
So let me introduce you to the shining star all smoothies wish they could be like. The cool kid of all smoothies. The breakfast smoothie I happen to be sipping at this very moment, because I’m so obsessed.
There’s obviously coffee. A lot of it, because wimpy, weak smoothies are a no-no. There’s Almond Breeze Almondmilk Original Unsweetened because this stuff is the BOMB in smoothies. There’s also greek yogurt and protein powder taking care of all your healthy-ish protein needs. Frozen banana and agave to sweeten things up. A little cocoa powder and chocolate chips for indulgence. Lastly, a dash of vanilla and that is seriously all there is to it.
Bada-bing. Breakfast is ready for sipping in a minimum of 5 minutes. Truthfully, it’s gone within about 5 seconds of the first sip but that’s no problem.
We can always make more. Like 3+ batches maybe? Great plans we’re forming, peeps.
Serious brain freeze here you come. You should probably have some hot cookies on hand to balance everything out, huh? 😉

I drink smoothies all the time, despite the freezing temps! This breakfast version looks fantastic, Sarah! I love the mocha flavors in here. I would gladly replace my morning cup of coffee for this drink!

I do too! Smoothies are just too good to only have when it’s warm out! 😉

I’m roasting in front of my space heater currently, so I could definitely go for one of these smoothies! I’ll never turn down mocha anything — even if it’s -2 outside! Happy Friday dear and have a great weekend. 🙂

Haha! It definitely sounds like you need this smoothie in your life then, Lauren! 😀

I would definitely cover myself in a pile of blankets to drink this. It looks so dang good! And I really like the combination of banana, coffee, and almond milk. Plus, I’m the person who gets in the mood for ice cream when it’s freezing out, so cold treats in winter don’t bother me at all. 🙂
Sarah says
Haha right? SO worth freezing a little inside to get your smoothie fix! 😉
Kelly says
It’s been freezing this week here too but that would definitely not stop me from enjoying this smoothie! Love me some mocha and this one looks so creamy and delicious!
Sarah says
It’s seriously SO cold here too! And yet I want smoothies. LOL. Thanks Kelly!

I have never added coffee to a smoothie before – and then it’s always a toss up, do I want a breakfast smoothie or coffee because they don’t work at the same time but I still want both. This is the answer to that little conundrum! Looks fantastic!
Sarah says
This smoothie is the perfect breakfast fix, right?? It solves everything! 😀
Rebecca @ NOURISHED. the blog says

Sarah says
Thanks Kristen!! 🙂
Molly says
I did not like this smoothie at all! I love the individual ingredients and was excited to make it. What a disappointment it turned out to be! Bitter taste, gritty texture (thanks to the chocolate chips), no blending of flavors. Maybe others will have better luck with this recipe!
