A zingy jalapeno lime steak marinade makes for the most FLAVORFUL carne asada steak salad bowls! Serve this loaded steak salad with all the salad fixins’ and creamy bleu cheese dressing.
If “romantic dinner” and salad were ever to collide…..these carne asada steak salad bowls are what that collision would look like.
And since we’re having salad for dinner…..you KNOW there’s chocolate with your name on it waiting for you afterwards. ??
And HELLO creamy, dreamy bleu cheese dressing. I would like to put you on literally every vegetable for the rest of my life.
Everyone loves a good steak salad cause let’s be honest: there’s not much to hate on. Tons of protein + veggies and it just looks super impressive. It’s also basically an entire dinner in one which is romantic dinner GOALS!!
First and foremost, you need to get your steak marinating. Flank steak and a super-simple lime jalapeno marinade are the secret sauce behind making a restaurant-style carne asada steak. The longer you let the steak marinate, the better the FLAVAH.
While your steak marinates you’ll have plenty of time to prep all the other salad components which honestly, the sky’s the limit! I use mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, sweet pepper, and a big pile of avocado, but honestly whatever you have on hand in the vegetable drawer will work here!
Also, can we talk about that creamy bleu cheese dressing. And the fact that it is freaking SWOON. It really brings all the components of this stunner salad together.
And I don’t know about you, but I would GLADLY take this pretty steak salad as a romantic dinner option.
Cause again, it basically gives you every excuse in the book to go wild with the chocolate later. ?

Bleu Cheese Dressing
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/3 cup crumbled bleu cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
Carne Asada Steak
- In a medium bowl, whisk jalapeno, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, soy sauce, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and salt and pepper to taste until smooth. Submerge steak in marinade, turning several times until coated. Press a bowl or plate down on steak to ensure it stays submerged in marinade and let marinade in fridge 30 minutes, then remove from fridge to let come to room temperature for an additional 30 minutes.
- Remove steak from marinade and pat dry. In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, heat remaining 1 tablespoon oil and butter until pan is very hot. Sear steak on both sides, 2-3 minutes on each side until steak reaches your desired doneness. Remove from pan to a cutting board, cover with foil and let rest 10 minutes.
Salad Bowls
- Divide mixed greens, pepper, avocado, and cherry tomatoes between several serving bowls. Once steak has rested, thinly slice against the grain and arrange on top of bowls.
Bleu Cheese Dressing
- In a small bowl, stir all dressing ingredients together until smooth and creamy. Drizzle dressing over salad bowls and toss to cat. Serve immediately and enjoy!
