These smashed fingerling potatoes feature roasted fingerling potatoes smashed and broiled until crispy and then drizzled with a fresh lemon dill sauce.

Easy side dishes are the name of the dinner game around here! Especially if potatoes are the one in question.
I’m almost embarrassed to even call these potatoes a recipe because, they’re seriously just about the most basic thing ever and only call for 5 simple ingredients + 1 sheet pan.
They’re way too good to not share though. I’m talking crispy, smashed potato perfection with massive amounts of flavor.

Fingerling potatoes work great in this recipe because they’re fast to cook up and they smash beautifully flat which gives plenty of surface area for them to get crispy from a quick broil.
A few good drizzles of lemon dill sauce later and I think we’ve got a winner.

Ingredients You Will Need
- Fingerling potatoes
- Unsalted butter
- Lemon
- Garlic
- Dill
Choosing Your Potatoes
You will need 2 lbs fingerling potatoes for this recipe. Baby potatoes will also work great in place of the fingerlings, you just may need to adjust cook time slightly as they will cook faster.

Tips for Perfect Fingerling Potatoes
- Roast fingerling potatoes whole – no need to cut them, just toss potatoes in a single layer on a sheet pan, prick them with a fork, and roast until tender.
- Smash potatoes with drinking glass – once the potatoes are tender, remove them from the oven and gently smash them flat. The flatter you can get them, the crispier they will be! I find that the bottom of a drinking glass works best for this job.
- Broil fingerling potatoes – 3-5 minutes under the broiler will crisp up the potatoes perfectly.
- Use fresh lemon and dill in sauce – using these ingredients fresh adds an unmatchable flavor.
- Drizzle potatoes with sauce after baking – this will keep the lemon + dill flavor fresh.
Recipe Variations
Try these ideas for a different twist on these potatoes.
- Use another citrus – try replacing the lemon with lime.
- Try another fresh herb – parsley, basil, or tarragon are great in place of the dill.
- Roast alongside other vegetables – try roasting asparagus, green beans, or sweet pepper on the side.
Serving Suggestions
These potatoes are great alongside grilled meats, a roast chicken, seafood, a green salad, or roast/grilled veggies.

This is definitely one of those side dishes you’re going to be turning to when you need something quick and easy that delivers on flavor! The potatoes broil up soooo freaking crispy and the lemon dill sauce brings out tons of incredible flavor.
Don’t mind me over here just eating them all off the sheet pan.
