This cinnamon roll oatmeal has a luscious swirl of cinnamon sugar glaze and is generously topped with a sweet cream cheese glaze. Your morning oatmeal will never be boring again!

Your morning bowl of oatmeal is certainly looking a lot brighter this morning! Cinnamon rolls tend to have that effect, I’ve noticed.
Basically these bowls are all the best parts about a cinnamon roll, but in oatmeal form! Which means we’ve got that signature cinnamon sugar swirl and thick drizzles of cream cheese icing.
Breakfast just can’t get any better than this, friends.

There’s nothing complex about these oatmeal bowls and they’re definitely easy enough to whip up any week morning since they come together in only about 15 minutes.
You’ll only need simple pantry ingredients, a pot for cooking your oatmeal, and of course, your sturdiest bowl for enjoying this breakfast masterpiece!
This Oatmeal features…
- A rich and creamy oatmeal base
- A sweet cinnamon sugar swirl
- A silky cream cheese glaze and toasted pecans on top

Making the Oatmeal
(scroll down to the bottom of the post for the full recipe)
Ingredients You Will Need
- Water
- 2% or skim milk
- Oats
- Salt
- Unsalted butter
- Granulated sugar
- Ground cinnamon
- Cream cheese
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Pecans
Choosing Your Oats
I recommend using old-fashioned rolled oats for this recipe. They’ll only take about 6-8 minutes to cook up and have an incredible texture that goes so well with the toppings.

Tips for Perfect Oatmeal
- Use half water and half milk for oatmeal – using half milk will give the oats a rich and creamy flavor.
- Cook oatmeal over low heat – low and slow is the best way to go for the creamiest texture. Stir oatmeal often to prevent burning on the bottom.
- Pipe cinnamon swirl – for a swirl that’s more uniform, scrape the cinnamon sugar mixture into a bag, snip off the corner, and pipe swirl over oatmeal. If you don’t care about the aesthetic, feel free to just use a spoon! It will taste the same either way.
- Toast nuts – toss the pecans around in a nonstick pan over medium heat 3-4 minutes until fragrant.
Recipe Variations
Try these ideas for a different twist on this oatmeal.
- Add fruit – top oatmeal with sautéed apples, dried cranberries, fresh blueberries, or raspberries.
- Use another nut – try toasted almonds or walnuts in place of the pecans. Alternatively, you can skip the nuts altogether.
- Try another glaze – you can use a simple powdered sugar glaze or top with drizzles of caramel instead.

Trust me, THIS is the way you want to be starting the morning. I definitely wouldn’t judge ya if you want to slip an actual cinnamon roll on the side.
Rich and creamy, cinnamon-sugary goodness. This is what we refer to as breakfast gold around here.
