Choosing Your Noodles
We like to use ramen for this recipe in particular because we almost always have that on hand in the pantry, but this recipe works great with any kind of Asian noodle including rice, soba, undon, or vermicelli.
Make sure to follow package instructions for whatever noodle you choose and cook noodles only to al dente to avoid overcooking later once the noodles are added to the sauce.
Tips for Perfect Chili Noodles
- Brown ground chicken – brown the ground chicken in a little sesame oil just until the meat is no longer pink.
- Use fresh garlic and ginger – you can’t beat the flavor these fresh ingredients give the noodles.
- Top noodles with sesame seeds and red pepper flakes – this adds an extra little punch of heat and flavor.
Recipe Variations
Try these ideas for a different twist on these wraps.
- Adjust heat level – these noodles are more on the mild side as far as heat goes but you can use less sweet chili sauce for less heat or add red pepper flakes or hot sauce for a spicier version.
- Try a different protein – try ground turkey, cubed cooked chicken, or beef strips in place of the ground chicken.
- Add vegetables – try adding sauteed mushrooms, sweet pepper, zucchini, carrot, or spinach.
- Make it vegetarian – skip the ground chicken and add a vegetable in its place.
Meal Prepping Noodles
These noodles reheat incredibly well making them great for meal prepping! Store noodles in meal prep containers up to 6 days and reheat 1-2 minutes on high in microwave for serving.
It’s the sweet with heat flavors that really seal the deal on these noodles! It coats every inch of the tender ramen, juicy ground chicken, and all those flavorful wilted green onions.
All in on these noodles for the foreseeable future. Takeout who?
