Classic grilled cheese sandwiches with an Italian twist of marinara sauce inside crusty bread with lots of gooey mozzarella cheese. Dip these fun sandwiches in extra marinara sauce for an authentic Italian lunch!
My usual boring grilled cheese, just got bumped up a notch.
Yep. I finally crossed over to the dark side of sophisticated versions of grilled cheese.
And I’m loving it.
L-O-V-I-N-G.
Put on your stretchy pants and get ready to indulge in the grilled cheese sandwich of your dreams.
This grilled cheese tastes like it came from a fancy Italian restaurant. And YOU can make it at home in less than 10 minutes with only 4 ingredients. Yes, I’m serious.
I always feel so gourmet whenever I make these sandwiches.
I freaking LOVE Italian food, so these sandwiches were right up my alley. To me, it tasted like all the flavors of spaghetti in the form of a grilled cheese sandwich. So. Perfect. 😀
Whooooeeeee….Just look at all that gooey cheese. Pass me 1,000 napkins.
Don’t mind me. I’m just sitting here wiping up a puddle of drool that mysteriously appeared on my keyboard.
Yeah, that bread you see? It’s homemade. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but my mom makes THE best homemade bread on the planet. I want to hoard that bread all to myself it’s so good.
Yes, it’s whole-wheat, but it’s still amazing. And kind of perfect for making grilled cheese.
You know what I love? I love how buttery and crispy the whole wheat bread gets on the outside, but how it still stays soft inside with the gooey melted cheese and warm marinara sauce.
I used a pre-made classic garlic-roasted marinara sauce for these sandwiches, but any kind of marinara sauce will work.
The garlicky, herb-incensed marinara sauce goes fabulously with the thickly-cut gooey mozzarella cheese (feel free to experiment with your favorite kinds of cheese!)
Trust me on this: You will never go back to ho-hum grilled cheese again, after trying these. Warm up some tomato soup and you’ve got yourself a pretty amazing lunch. (or dinner!)
Don’t forget to dip these little guys in extra warm marinara sauce before devouring. It’s a must. 😉
