Ingredients You Will Need
- Blueberries
- Lemon juice
- Granulated sugar
- Cornstarch
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Granulated sugar
- Salt
- Unsalted butter
- Heavy whipping cream
- Buttermilk
Fresh vs. Frozen Blueberries
Frozen blueberries will work perfectly fine in this recipe! The only adjustments we recommend is 1) adding an additional 1/2 tablespoon of cornstarch to the filling to account for the extra water in frozen berries. 2) add an extra 5 minutes to bake time.
No need to thaw the berries either! They can go straight from the freezer into the filling.

Tips for Perfect Cobbler
- Add lemon juice to blueberries – this brightens up the blueberries and perfectly balances the fruity flavors.
- Measure flour correctly – we use the spoon-and-level technique for measuring flour as this will prevent over-measuring your flour. Use a spoon to scoop flour into the measuring cup, then level with the back of a knife.
- Use cold butter for topping – this will help the biscuit-like topping rise nice and high.
- Gently fold batter – use a light hand when mixing the cobbler batter and gently fold so as not to overmix.
- Bake cobbler until fruit is bubbly – the fruit filling should be just slightly bubbling and the topping should be a light golden brown.
Recipe Variations
Try these ideas for a different twist on this cobbler!
- Use a different berry – try strawberries, blackberries, or raspberries in place of the blueberries. Feel free to use several types of berries as well!
- Make it extra-lemony – add 1 teaspoon lemon zest to the filling and another 1 teaspoon to the cobbler topping.
- Spice the topping – for a warm spiced flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg to the cobbler topping.
How To Serve Cobbler
This cobbler is best served warm from the oven with either a big scoop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream or both!
If you would like to make this cobbler ahead of time for serving, you can reheat individual servings in the microwave or pop the dish back in a 350F oven for 10-15 minutes.

Seriously a bowl full of absolute cobbler perfection! The juicy sweet blueberries are so insanely good with the flaky biscuit topping and obviously a big ol’ scoop of whipped cream or ice cream takes things from good to utterly insane.
Best-ever, hands down! But don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself!
