Lots of mocha flavor and a generous portion of crunchy chocolate pieces star in this creamy banana-based ice cream that’s secretly healthy and doesn’t even require an ice cream maker!
I come bearing the best news of the week today: It’s FRIDAY.
And this is an ICE CREAM kinda fun-day Friday because gosh, this has been a looooong week and I’m more than ready to kick it back tonight with a bowlful of this ice cream and a stackful of new cookbooks that I got at the beginning of this week that I STILL have yet to even look through.
Clearly, I’m a total party animal when it comes to Friday nights. Aheeeem.
Oh, I’ve also got some worst news of the week if you’d care to hear it: (either way, I’ll probably tell you)
I’m sunburned. My back and shoulders are literally FRIED and I’d hazard to guess that that would be thanks to working a double-shift at my lifeguard job on Wednesday and having to stand out in the broiling 800-degree skin-frying sun for 1-1/2 hours straight with no breaks.
Trust me though, that was definitely not a boring 5 million hours. All the kids are out of school here now and I’m pretty sure they don’t have a care in the world. Meaning they break the rules and no matter how many times you blow your whistle and yell at them to stop-hanging-on-the-slides-for-gosh-sakes or quit-dunking-your-friend-underwater they’ll probably do it again.
I think I need a louder whistle, a scarier yelling voice, and a sun-blocking umbrella permanently fastened to my back.
An endless supply of this ice cream would just be the icing on the cake too, uhh if you know what I mean.
Speaking of which, let’s talk about this ice cream that I’m so freakin’ psyched about.
There’s coffee. There’s banana. There’s chocolate and even MORE chocolate. All wrapped up in a big ‘ol creamy scoop of frozen heaven.
Oh, heaaaaaavens. So darn C-R-E-A-M-Y but at the same time loaded with bits of perfectly crunchy chocolate.
Texture-lover’s dream in one scoop!
Oh, and did I mention that whole no-churn PLUS made-nearly-completely-from-bananas business?
Yes, I’m serious. This is totally that “magic ice cream” everyone’s talking about! Mostly-healthy, super-easy, ultra-skinny + an extra dash of awesome. 😉
Seriously, if no one spilled the beans, NOBODY would ever guess that that this ice cream is secretly the healthy, make-your-skin-glow kinda summer treat. Do those even exist? They sure as heck do now.
For real, friends, a scoop of this ultra-awesome ice cream would make your Friday in awesome ways.
You might even be inclined to lick the bowl clean.
But uhhhh, you did not hear that from me. I try to set a good example in the manners department and hey, that’s what closets are for right?!
Commence LICKING. ♥

I am the crazy one that has been leaving you messages on the photo of this ice cream on your facebook page. I mentioned I was going to make it and then today I did… I just put it in the freezer but of course needed to try 1..uhm..8 spoonfuls before popping it in there to make sure everything was on the up and up..
I honestly can not thank you enough for this recipe!!!! I strive to find the better option when it comes to foods and desserts and sometimes you feel like you are eating healthy and that isn’t always fun. If that makes sense. Sometimes I want to sit down and eat something that although is healthy, doesn’t appear to be. This ice cream does just that. The consistency and cream factor is spot on and the flavor is so incredible! I can sit down and eat a small bowl and silently laugh to myself knowing all the ingredients are beneficial to me and will leave me satisfied when it comes to having a sweet treat and keeping me on track health wise. So thank you!!
If anyone is still wondering if they should make it now or later. Make it now. Make it right now and laugh along with me..lol Can’t wait until it firms up later on 🙂

Sonya, that makes me sooooooo happy to hear that you love this ice cream so much! I totally get it that it’s nearly impossible to stop eating once you start, but so what? It’s healthy ice cream. 😉 Thanks so much for reporting back and enjoy the rest of your ice cream!! 😀

Making this tonight, looks great. About amount grams of banana would you suggest? These things vary so much from one to the next.
Thanks!
Sarah says
Hi there! Since one banana equals about 100 grams I would recommend using 500 grams of bananas for this recipe. Enjoy!
