Roasted to perfection in maple syrup and spices, these candied pecans and almonds make the ultimate holiday snack or gift!
If I were to marry an appetizer…it would be these candied pecans and almonds.
The end.
Yeah, just had to get that statement said and out of the way. Moving along here…
So hey friends! I’ve decided that today that is Monday shall be hereby known as The Day of the Snacks. Put on your snack pants because it’s going dooooooown today.
Actually it’s going down all the rest of this week too. COMPLETELY coincidentally nearly all my posts I planned for this week are snacky holiday food. And I mean, absolutely coinky-dink.
Soooo. Yeah, just leave those snack pants on. This week may be rough on your waistline.
First on the diet-demolisher to-do list…NUTS!! Candied almonds and pecans gettin’ all cozy and toasty with maple syrup and winter-y spices. Making your house smell like a candy factory…
Not to mention making snacktime the most anticipated activity of the day. Also the most frequent.
Let’s talk about candying nuts. It’s SO not as hard as most people think and I’m convinced that this recipe is absolutely the easiest. For one thing, there’s no fooling around with sugar necessary here—there’s none needed! These nuts are sweetened completely by maple syrup which also contribute fantastic flavor.
Along with syrup, we have tons of spices keeping things interesting in the flavor department and then just a pinch of salt and a little melted butter to make the nuts super-toasty and crunchy.
As far as nuts, you can totally use whatever kind you desire here. My family personally loves the pecans and almonds combo best and I kinda agree, because I’m seriously partial to pecans. They’re the bomb and totally festive for this time of year.
All you need to do then is toss your nuts with everything else, pop ’em in the oven and let the magic happen. You will have to stir halfway through baking, just so the nuts don’t stick and bake together.
During this time your kitchen will begin to smell so good you will probably pass out.
And yeah, it goes without saying that you will probably demolish the entire pan immediately afterwards. Multiple x 1000 handfuls here you come. 😉
Oh mah goooosh. I may never eat anything else again…
These nuts are just too good.
Way too good.
