These ultimately-fudgy flourless almond butter brownies are nearly impossible to stop eating! They whip up easily in one bowl and each brownie only contains 125 calories!
So I stumbled upon yet another startling realization the other day…
It has been approximately 6 months and 4 days since my last brownie recipe. Guys, that’s 187 days brownie-less. It might as well be 2 million years.
And ugh, just writing that depresses me a LOT and makes me feel like eating all the brownies.
Make no mistake, I certainly have not been without brownies this entire time (this one in particular gets quite the workout) but new and exciting brownie recipes for y’all? Production has been slow and okaaaay, non-existent.
But you can’t be mad at me! The past few weeks I’ve been working on super-healthy stuff and you’ll be pleased to see that brownies made the cut.
And seeing how I’m an accredited brownie junkie, today just seems like the day to do it. Because obviously Friday and also the fact that today is said brownie junkie’s birthday.
Celebratory flourless brownies all around! ♥
Guys, can I just say that it feels extremely weird to now be in the final year of my teens? I know most of you are probably guffawing at me right now, but I can’t help it! 19 sounds old to me and that’s all there is to it.
Ugh, I’m probably going to have my mid-life crisis when I’m 25…
I like to keep my birthday pretty low-key around here so my only plans for today involve eating more brownies, drinking multiple lattes, and enjoying my night off from cooking while at the same time praying that the 16 year-old, the 14-year old and the 11-year old siblings don’t burn the house down trying to make dinner.
Yes, you can go ahead and call me a big bore because I know I totally am. I’m A-okay with that. 😉
Of course, if you wanted to send me cake I would definitely not have a problem with that.
Okay, now that we’ve got all that birthday business out of the way, let’s talk about flourless brownies. The reason all things are now right in Brownie World.
Allow me to lay out all the things absent from these brownies: No refined sugar, oil, dairy, grains, flour, or gluten in sight.
Only loooooots of brownie magic taking their place, and it starts with almond butter. The #1 source behind what makes these flourless brownies so awesomely fudgy, while at the same time takes the place of flour AND oil.
All hail, almond butter because HALLELUJAH, it keeps the calorie count per brownie only 125 calories!
Although…I’m not sure how much that brownie bonus point matters if a certain unspoken brownie junkie ends up eating the entire pan. I won’t mention any names.
Additional brownie bonus points? One bowl. One pan. —> 25 minutes later a one-way trip to your belly with all of them.
I too, like to test my brownie capacity limits. 😉
Birthdays were made for binging so I choose to binge on healthy flourless brownies all day and probably into the weekend.
These are going to blow your mind, friends. Have three on ME because, hello, it’s a birthday! 😉

I made these today and they are SO GOOD! Super fudgy and chocolatey, and you’d never know they have no butter. I love it when a healthier treat tastes this good!!!
Sarah says
YAY! I’m so happy you love them, Kristine!! Isn’t it so hard not to eat them all?? xoxo
Hannah says
Can I leave out the cocoa powder?
Sarah says
Unfortunately, the cocoa powder is needed in this recipe.
Shay says
I have a LOT of raw pecan butter, so I increased the nut butter to a full cup and added an extra egg. I also omitted the chips and used a 50/50 mix of sucralose and erythritol for “sugar.” They came out chewy and delicious, definitely saving to use again!
Sarah says
Happy to hear that you had success with these brownies, Shay! Thanks for letting me know!
Mollie says
Can’t wait to try these. Can you recommend other pan sizes? I don’t have a 12 inch square.
Sarah says
An 8×8 inch pan would work, Mollie!
Valerie says
At the top of the recipe it says serves 25, then at the end of the recipe it says to cut into 16 squares. How many servings is this? 25 or 16?

When i find recipe i want to try, i always look for reviews of people who actually tried the recipe, not just it looks good or looks delicious.
I have few recipes saved that i tried and decided to keep, this one is definitely a keeper. I love how soft fluffy they are not your topical wet compressed brownies. All my 4 kids from 3 to 12 year old approved it. I cut the coconut sugar to 2/3c instead of 3/4 and it was still plenty sweet. Thank you for this recipe!!!
Candice says
Thank you so much! These were amazing. My kids approved and you would never notice they had no flour. Really surprised at how rich and chocolate tasting it was.
Melanie says
These are so good! When they first came out of the oven I was disappointed because they were super fluffy and cakey. However, after that cooled for a few hours they were perfect; moist, dense, and fudgy. This recipe is a keeper.
Sarah says
So glad to hear that these were a success, Melanie! Hope you enjoyed. 🙂
Mollie says
I thought these were tasty and easy to make. I used almond butter that was made from roasted almonds but I was wondering if you have ever made this with raw almond butter? Trader Joes carries both kinds now and I was wondering if it makes a difference in the results.
Sarah says
I’ve never tried these brownies with raw almond butter, however you can certainly try it!
Magda says
Can you microwave these, perhaps for a longer time or until they seem done? And maybe stevia instead? They look sooo fudgy?
Sarah says
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend microwaving these brownies rather than baking them. You could reduce the sugar in half, however, and use 1-2 teaspoons of stevia to taste!
deidre ellington says
Thanks for the recipe. Made some this weekend. Used Lily’s dark chocolate chips sweetened with stevia and sukrin gold instead of brown sugar. They rose beautifully and taste amazing.
Sarah says
So happy to hear, Deidre! Hope you enjoyed them. 🙂
Julia says
These are the best brownies I have ever had! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe 🙂 I followed it exactly and they came out gorgeous.
kay says
On the day i made these brownies I looked at several “healthy” brownie recipes before i decided on this one because I like the ingredients. (Actually i’ve been looking for years for a not so fatty and sweet brownie). I even overcooked it by a few minutes and it still is the best brownie i’ve found to date, traditional or “healthy”! My new go-to brownie recipe!
p.s. i made it with 2 eggs and 1/2 cup (natural) sugar and they still are fantastic!
Sarah says
I’m so happy to hear these brownies were a success, Kay! Enjoy. 🙂
