Meet the best smoothie combo of all time. I know, banana and chai may seem like a strange combo right off the bat but trust me, it does the job in this killer smoothie.

We love these smoothies for breakfast, but honestly, is there ever an inappropriate time for a smoothie??
Good thing they’re easy enough to have everything stocked and ready to go at a moments notice.

Can I Use a Food Processer?
While we typically recommend a blender for smoothies, if a food processor is all you have you can definitely use it for this recipe! Be aware, you may have to puree the smoothie in batches to prevent overflow.
Tips for Perfect Smoothies
- Use frozen bananas – cubed frozen bananas eliminates the use for ice in this smoothie which will preserve a lot of flavor from the bananas.
- Add oats – we love adding a scoop of old-fashioned rolled oats to our smoothies to give it a thick texture and make it a little more filling.
- Sweeten smoothie to taste – we suggest starting with 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup, but you can dial this up or down based on your sweetness preference.
Recipe Variations
Try these ideas for a different twist on this smoothie.
- Add coconut – add a splash of coconut cream for a little hint of tropical flavors.
- Skip added sweetener – for a naturally-sweetened smoothie, you can easily skip the honey.
- Add protein – you can add a scoop of protein powder, peanut butter, or Greek yogurt for some added protein.
- Make it dairy-free – use oat milk, coconut milk, or almond milk in place of the 2% milk.
This is just one of those smoothies that you’ll quickly find yourself adding to your regular smoothie rotation! The creamy banana + chai spices combination works to absolute perfection here.
And yeah, once you start sipping it’s kinda hard to stop…

My favorite drink at Starbucks is their Chai Tea Latte. And I’ve owned a Vitamix for years. But I never put two and two together and tried to make a “chai smoothie” at home.
This is a fantastic recipe! Two thumbs up.
