You’ll never go back to store-bought after one taste of our best guacamole recipe! Load this flavorful guacamole up with lots of fresh lime, cilantro, and all your favorite toppings.
Guacamole may seem like a basic recipe, but I’m spilling all the secrets today about why our version is the best!
I don’t use those words lightly, either. Put a bowl of this guac goodness down on the table and all self-control goes out the window. Along with many many chips.
We love this guacamole so much, it’s basically a given these days that we always have a container on hand in the fridge.
You don’t need any fancy ingredients either to pull off the world’s best guac and I promise you’re going to love this green gold even more than your favorite Mexican restaurant.
Just don’t blame me when you have to make another batch because the first one disappeared too fast.
This Guacamole features…
- A perfectly creamy texture
- Tons of flavor from fresh garlic, cilantro, and lime juice
- Ready in 5 minutes and goes well in a variety of dishes
Making the Guacamole
(scroll down to the bottom of the post for the full recipe)
Ingredients You Will Need
- Avocados
- Cilantro
- Garlic
- Lime juice
- Salt and pepper
- Optional toppings: red onion and jalapeno
Choosing Your Avocados
We recommend choosing avocados that are soft to the touch or if all you can find are underripe, let them sit on the counter for a few days until softened. Avoid avocados that are overly mushy otherwise that may give your guacamole an undesirable flavor.
Tips for Perfect Guacamole
- Mash avocados with fork or potato masher – we find its easiest to mash the avocado first and then add the additional ingredients.
- Use fresh garlic, cilantro, and lime – using these ingredients fresh is key for a super flavorful guacamole.
- Store guacamole in refrigerator – if you can, we recommend serving guacamole immediately after making for the freshest flavor, but it will also store fine in the fridge up to 4 days.
Recipe Variations
Try these ideas for a different twist on this guacamole.
- Make it extra creamy – fold in 1/4 cup sour cream for an extra creamy guacamole texture.
- Add more toppings – try green onions, tomato, or cotija cheese.
- Make it spicy – fold in red pepper flakes or a few shakes of your favorite hot sauce.
Ways to Use Guacamole
These are just a few of the many ways you can use guacamole!
- As a dip for chips
- On avocado toast
- With eggs
- In a sandwich or wrap
- On nachos, quesadillas, tacos, or enchiladas
This is one of those recipes you’ll quickly memorize because you’ll find yourself making it so often! This guac has just the right amount of tanginess from the fresh lime and the fresh garlic + cilantro ties all the flavors together.
Take it from me, you’re gonna want to find your biggest guac bowl and make a double batch of this goodness.
