Choosing Your Feta
I recommend purchasing an 8-oz block of feta preferably a brand that’s packed in water for this recipe. Pat the feta dry and it’s ready for baking.
Be aware, crumbled feta will not work in this recipe.
Tips for Perfect Baked Feta
- Use red pepper flakes and hot sauce – I found that this combo gives just the right amount of heat to the sauce. Feel free to use more or less than the recipe calls for based on your personal heat preference.
- Simmer hot honey – this helps all the ingredients melt and meld together into a cohesive sauce.
- Halve cherry tomatoes – this will make them the perfect size for scooping up with the cheese.
- Top feta with balsamic glaze and fresh basil after baking – these two ingredients tie all the flavors together perfectly.
Recipe Variations
Try these ideas for a different twist on this recipe.
- Adjust heat level – leave out the hot sauce and red pepper flakes for a mild hot honey. Alternatively, for a more spicy version, add more red pepper flakes to taste.
- Use regular tomatoes – dice up 2 medium tomatoes and use in place of cherry tomatoes.
- Use fruit in place of tomatoes – try diced peaches, nectarines, or plums in place of the cherry tomatoes.
Serving Suggestions
This feta is a great app for pretty much any occasion! Serve it with toasted bread or crackers for dipping alongside a cheese plate, charcuterie board, and chilled white wine for a stand-out appetizer spread.
Every single component of this baked feta works together to utter perfection! The feta gets so soft and melty while the tomatoes add a little juicy sweetness and the hot honey adds the perfect level of heat. Just try getting away without eating half the block solo.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 medium clove garlic, minced
- 1-2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 block (8 oz) feta, patted dry
- Fresh basil and balsamic glaze for topping
- Toasted bread slices for serving
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, melt butter then whisk in honey, garlic, hot sauce, and red pepper flakes and bring to a low simmer. Remove hot honey from heat and season with salt to taste. Keep warm (if hot honey solidifies, bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat or microwave 15 seconds to return to liquid form)
- Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking dish and preheat oven to 400F. Arrange cherry tomatoes in a single layer and place feta in the center of pan. Drizzle hot honey over top of feta and tomatoes. Bake feta and tomatoes 20-25 minutes until feta is soft when center is lightly touched and tomatoes are soft and juicy.
- Top feta with fresh basil and a drizzle of balsamic glaze and serve warm with toasted bread slices for dipping. Enjoy!
